Healthy Aging Classes

Ages 50 years and up

The Y has fitness classes specifically designed for older adults. They give participants an opportunity to stay physically active or in some cases, to overcome their fear of exercise and begin being physically active.

Healthy Aging fitness programs accommodate a wide variety of interests and functional abilities of older adults. Healthy Aging programs include water exercise, yoga, strength and stretching classes. Our volunteer opportunities and social events help build lasting relationships and community ties that last a lifetime.

Healthy Aging Offerings at the Kettle Moraine YMCA


Aerobics is a 20-minute low-impact class using movement and exercise to build cardiovascular endurance and balance.

Chair Exercise

This Arthritis Foundation class focuses on strength, posture and range of motion, utilizing elastic tubing and light hand weights for resistance.

Indoor Walking Track

Participants may use the track or the gym for unsupervised walking and cardiovascular exercise.

Cycling Seniors

Cycling is an ideal workout for Healthy Aging Adults. Get a great cardiovascular workout with little to no impact on your joints.

Pickleball - Open Play

Pickleball is a sport that is a combination of badminton, tennis and ping-pong. It is performed on a 44ft x 20ft court with a three foot high net. Participants use a paddle board to hit a whiffle ball back and forth across a three foot net. Come join us for this low-intensity, high-excitement game that is fun for all age groups.

Strength Training

Participants may use specific strength training equipment chosen to enhance strong muscles and balance.

Shallow water calisthenics and aerobic exercise make this class a total body workout.

Aqua Zumba®

A water-based workout that integrates the salsa dancing formula and philosophy into traditional aqua fitness disciplines.

Aquatic Circuit

A water class geared for those who want to improve balance, stretching and flexibility.

Aquatic Arthritis Program

Enjoy a shallow water workout for individuals with arthritis, joint and muscular concerns.

Propulsion Walking

Held in the Lazy River in the Family Adventure Pool, propulsion walking is a great resistance workout walking or running with or against the current.

Water Jog

Experience a deep and shallow water workout designed to improve cardiovascular ability, muscular endurance and strength.

Water Exercise

This class promotes toning and flexibility through water activities.

Easy Cycle

This cycling class provides a no-impact cardiovascular workout performed to music on a stationary bike. The instructor will lead you through a workout that will help strengthen your heart. Intensity is controlled by the individual at each bike.

Senior Fitness

A half hour class made for the Healthy Aging that will strengthen your flexibility, core and strength using a variety of exercise equipment. Fun and different every week!

Water Classes

Aqua Bootcamp

This intense aqua class focuses on body sculpting by using interval training and aqua kick. We combine strength training and aerobic conditioning with water resistance to give you an awesome overall body workout.

Aquatic Arthritis Program

The YMCA is proud to offer this low impact water exercise program designed for people with arthritis and related conditions. The water provides gentle resistance to build muscle strength and support joints to encourage free movement. Participants should be comfortable in the water, but do not need to have swimming skills. Please check with your physician before beginning this program.

Shallow Water Exercise

Make the most of the resistive qualities of water to help increase your flexibility, cardio fitness level and muscle strength. Perfect for first-time exercisers currently active or those looking for a good workout. This class is taught in chest deep water. Participants should be comfortable in the water but do not need to have swimming skills.

Chair Yoga

Reconnect with your spirit, mind and body. Focus on mindful breathing, relaxation, stretching, balance and gentle yoga postures while using a chair for support and stability.


Drumming is a low impact aerobic workout using resistaballs and "drumsticks" to drum with. This is a great class to get in some cardio, an upper body stretch and it is a fun way to de-stress.


Enhance®Fitness is a proven community-based senior fitness and arthritis management program. It helps older adults become more active, energized and empowered for independent living.

Tai Chi

Enhance your health with balance, increase internal energy awareness, and reduce stress by learning Tai Chi Yang Short form and other flowing forms.
