About Before & After School Child Care
The Kettle Moraine YMCA is the area’s largest provider of school-age child care, providing care for more than 950 children ages 3 to 13 each day throughout Ozaukee and Washington Counties. Children are given the opportunity to express their individual talents in a safe and well-supervised atmosphere and parents are free from worry about their children’s care while they are at work. The entire experience for the children is built around activities that challenge them to accept and demonstrate the Y’s values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Social Emotional Learning
In our programs, we use Second Step Out-Of-School curriculum. This involves a few 10-15 minute lessons per week that focus on increasing children’s social competence. When school is not in session, School’s Out Day Program offers families a safe, reliable, and fun childcare option. Our licensed program is available on days such as school breaks, snow days, teacher in‑service days, and other non‑school days.
Our goal is to make your child’s day off engaging and worry‑free—and to provide parents with peace of mind knowing their child is in great hands. Most of our school districts provide full-day care at one of our Y Care locations when there is no school. We need at least eight children signed up to host a School’s Out Day.
What Your Child Can Expect
Each School’s Out Day is thoughtfully planned and full of opportunities for children to move, create, and connect with friends. Each location has their own unique planned activities.
Active games and physical play
Creative crafts and hands‑on projects
Group activities that encourage teamwork and confidence
Time to relax, recharge, and have fun
Snacks are provided for AM and PM
All activities take place in a safe, welcoming environment designed to support children’s growth and well‑being.

Children are supervised by trained and qualified YMCA staff who provide strong leadership, positive guidance, and compassionate care. Our staff create an atmosphere where every child feels safe, supported, and included.
