Frequently Asked Questions About the Parking Lot Construction

Will the YMCA be open during the parking lot project?

Yes. The YMCA will remain open during our normal business hours and will continue to offer 24/7 access. Please note that parking will be limited throughout the duration of the project. CLICK HERE OR ON IMAGE TO DOWNLOAD PDF OF THE PARKING MAP.

When will the parking lot construction begin?

Construction is scheduled to begin on August 31, 2026, with a tentative completion date October 30, 2026.

What does the construction project look like?

The project will be completed in two phases.

Phase 1

  • Construction will begin on the north side of the parking lot (the right side as you enter the YMCA) and is tentatively scheduled to be completed by the end of September.
  • Members will park on the south side of the parking lot (the left side as you enter the YMCA).
  • The main entrance will remain accessible throughout this phase.
  • Staff will park on the front lawn. A parking map will be provided to all staff prior to the start of construction.
  • This information will be posted throughout the YMCA and shared with members through our communication channels.

Phase 2

  • Construction will move to the south side of the parking lot and driveway entrance (the left side as you enter the YMCA). This phase is tentatively scheduled to begin in late September/Early October
  • Members will park on the north side of the parking lot (the right side as you enter the YMCA).
  • The main entrance will remain accessible.
  • During driveway construction, flaggers will direct traffic entering and exiting the facility. We appreciate your patience during this phase of construction.

Where do I park?

Half of the parking lot will be open throughout the project, and overflow parking will be on the front lawn. An updated parking map will be provided before this phase begins. Please do not park on Northwoods or Birch Roads.

How will we communicate updates during the parking lot project?

Weekly email updates will be sent to members and staff throughout the project with construction progress, schedule updates, and any new information.

Will this project add additional parking spaces?

Yes. The project will add 17 new parking spaces and include upgraded parking lot lighting to improve safety.

Why are the parking lot and pool projects happening at the same time?

The projects were intentionally scheduled together because the pool closure will reduce traffic in and out of the parking lot, making the parking lot easier to manage and minimizing the overall disruption.

What is happening to the flower bed in front of the building?

As part of the parking lot improvement project, we are installing new parking lot lighting and relocating our flagpole. To complete this work, the existing flower bed will need to be removed temporarily. Once construction is complete, the area will be restored with new landscaping, including fresh flowers and plantings surrounding the relocated flagpole and new lighting.
