Each week when I would take my son to his youth sports program, I walked by the Alloy fitness class. Although I had previously been a part of various other fitness classes, I was trying to exercise at the Y on my own. It was difficult to motivate myself to be consistent. I stuck to running on the treadmill because that’s what I knew how to do, and I had convinced myself that I didn’t like lifting weights. Eventually, I decided that if I was already at the Y for my son’s class, I would sign up for Alloy. One of the things I really enjoy about Alloy is the variety in the workouts. Most of the exercises are repeated regularly but paired together differently so you build familiarity and have a wide amount of variety from class to class. Also, the workouts build core strength, but through a variety of exercises. I have never done a traditional sit-up in the class! Lastly, Alloy has given me a workout community and encouragement, in every class I attend. I have become much stronger since starting Alloy, in my core and upper body. I’ve noticed my posture has improved and I sleep better on the days I go to class. I’ve been able to do chin-ups and pull-ups, two things I never thought I’d be able to do. Regular classes make it easier to put consistent self-care into my schedule. Life is better with Alloy!
