Total Strength

Build strength, increase lean muscle mass and decrease body fat.

Work your muscles in every way possible in this class designed to build strength, add definition, increase your bone density, and decrease your body fat by increasing your lean muscle. You will use hand weights, tubing, steps (optional) and your own body weight to change the shape of your body.

  • No registration required
  • Youth ages 12-13 may attend accompanied by an adult
  • Teens age 14+ may attend unaccompanied by an adult

A Typical Class

Class will begin with a warm-up. Then, class participants use their own body weight and fitness equipment to challenge all the major muscles of the body. The instructor will focus on a variety of multi-joint and single-joint exercises are both functional and power-driven. No muscle gets neglected in this class!

Tips + Preparation

  • New to class? Arrive a little early so our instructor can give you some pointers.
  • Arrive 5 minutes early so you have time to gather and set-up your equipment.
  • Good posture is the foundation of all exercise. Focus on getting your
    technique right.
  • Protect your joints. Always keep them slightly bent – not locked – and
    perform movements smoothly

Equipment Needed

  • A variety of equipment (per instructor)
  • The Y provides all equipment for this class

Attire and What to Bring

  • Come to class dressed and ready to move your body
  • Comfotable, functional clothing made of breatheable material to allow air flow
  • Proper gym shoes that fit comfortably. We recommend
    cross-trainers or running shoes.
  • Water bottle
  • Sweat towel (available at the welcome desk)
