Positive, female role models lead discussion regarding difficulties girls are facing today. Our facilitators provide an open, judgment-free atmosphere that allows girls to feel comfortable asking questions and exploring different topics. It focuses on improving their mental, social, emotional and physical health through discussion, education and skill-building. The girls are able to build self-esteem and create lasting friendships prior to entering high school.
Biweekly Topics May Include: Welcome Gathering & Getting to Know One Another, Healthy Friendships, Self-Defense, Giving Back, Yoga, Coping With Stress, Healthy Eating & Nutrition, Mental Health & Self-Care, Body Image & Confidence, Positive Free Time, The Babysitting Certification Course, Substance Abuse, Money and Time Management and Day at the Y.
Each site will meet every other week from 6:00-8:00 PM unless stated otherwise. Sites include Kettle Moraine YMCA West Washington Branch, Kewaskum Middle School, Slinger Middle School, Hartford Middle School, Port Washington-Saukville Middle School, and Cedarburg Middle School. The program is available to 6th – 8th graders *and at certain sites for 5th graders, please see registration. This program will be running cost-free for participants and open to both members and non-members of the Kettle Moraine YMCA.
