“I work for the Y because it allows me to participate in providing high-quality child care to my community. Everyone benefits from this. While I’m only a small part of a young child’s life, it’s a very meaningful time for the infants and their families. I feel good about using my skills and experience to care for our youngest. Infants require an enormous amount of care, and it truly takes a village. I like being a part of that. Plus, they are so fascinating and adorable!”

I mainly wanted to gain experience with children to see if that is the pathway I wanted to take as I got older. I have stuck with it because I love it. Children have always had a special place in my heart. I enjoy being able to benefit them and help them develop in many ways as they grow.

I started working in child care as a youth apprentice in high school because I knew I wanted to go into education. This was an amazing opportunity to get real world experience working with children. I originally was planning on going into elementary education, but working at the YMCA’s child care solidified my future plans and I am now pursuing a degree in early childhood education while continuing to work at the Y. This has allowed me to grow as a teacher as I’m able to implement what I’m learning in college with the children I work with everyday. Now the Y is helping me to continue to grow into a lead teacher and take on new responsibilities!

I work for the Y because they look at the overall health of every employee and truly care about us! They also give back to the community! I also take advantage of the retirement fund, it will help me when I retire!
