LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA

Ages 18 years and older at our River Shores location

LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a twelve-week, small group program designed for adult cancer survivors. This program fulfills the important need of supporting the increasing number of cancer survivors who find themselves in the transitional period between completing their cancer treatment and the shift to feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to attempt to return to their normal life or their "new normal". The program is conducted outside of medical facilities to emphasize that LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is about health, not disease.

The goals of the program include:

  • Improving strength and endurance
  • Increasing flexibility and day-to-day activities
  • Reducing the severity of therapy side effects
  • Preventing unwanted weight changes
  • Improve self esteem and energy levels

Participants receive a FREE 12-week Kettle Moraine YMCA Family Membership and may use any facility at any time. Participants may bring in a family member who can assist in the class or workout on their own.

Requirements: Participants must receive medical clearance and are evaluated on an individual basis. Patients currently undergoing treatment may participate, but only if they receive medical clearance.
