GMF to invest $375,000 over three years in WBCF grantmaking

West Bend, Wis., June 18, 2020 – Building on their decades-long partnership, the West Bend Community Foundation and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation have embarked on a new pilot program to increase investment in nonprofits serving the needs of Washington County.

Through this pilot, GMF will provide WBCF with $125,000 per year for three years to be pooled with WBCF funds and used at its board’s discretion for making grants to the community. This added investment will increase WBCF’s ability to sustain and support local organizations that are effective in providing the services that people in Washington County need most.

“On behalf of the West Bend Community Foundation and the entire greater West Bend community, I want to express our gratitude for this magnanimous commitment and investment GMF is making in our community,” said Peter D. Ziegler, president of the West Bend Community Foundation Board of Directors. “This three-year pilot program builds upon the $200,000 gift GMF granted to our community in 2015 to rehabilitate Old Settlers Park and is a further demonstration of the growing and strong relationship between our two organizations.”

“The West Bend Community Foundation is uniquely attuned to the challenges in Washington County and the types of solutions that will work best for those who live and work in these communities,” said Kathryn Dunn, senior vice president for community impact at the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. “This new commitment reflects the strong working relationship between GMF and WBCF while ensuring nonprofits have additional resources to fulfill their missions, especially now as organizations face new costs and increased demand due to COVID-19.”

Beyond this effort, GMF will continue to accept funding applications that align with Foundation priorities from organizations in Washington County during its regular grant cycles.
