Pilates

Create a toned, centered core while incresing flexability, balance and coordination

Pilates is a conditioning fitness class that focuses on body alignment and breathing. The exercises focus on all core powerhouse muscle groups including the abdominals, lower back, shoulders, thighs and glutes.

  • Level: All
  • Drop-in Class
  • No registration required
  • Youth ages 12-13 may attend accompanied by an adult
  • Teens age 14+ may attend unaccompanied by an adult

A Typical Class

The six primary principles in every Pilates workouts are: control, center, concentration, precision, breathing and flow. Class begins with warm-up exercises centering on the abdominals. The focus then shifts to other exercise that work the other muscles of the core. Class ends with stretching and restorative moves.

Tips + Preparation

  • New to class? Arrive a little early so our instructor can give you some pointers.
  • Come to class dressed and ready to move your body.
  • Inform your instructor of any injuries you may have before class starts.

  • Yoga mat
  • The Y provides all equipment for this class

Attire and What to Bring

  • Come to class dressed and ready to move your body
  • Loose-fitting, functional clothing made of breathable material to allow air flow
  • Yoga mat (optional)
  • Water bottle
