Strengthen, Tone and Define your Entire Body

The BODYPUMP™ revolutionary barbell workout challenges all major muscle groups. Classes consists of squats, presses, lifts and curls as you strengthen, tone and define your entire body. You determine the level you'll work at by choosing the appropriate weight.

  • Youth ages 12-13 may attend accompanied by an adult
  • Teens age 14+ may attend unaccompanied by an adult

A Typical Class

Carefully selected music tracks for maximum effect guide participants through the 60-minute class. Each track focuses on a different body part, beginning with the warm-up. Your instructor will then guide you through the main portion of the workout stressing every major muscle groups. You will feel the burn. Each class finishes with a 5 minute stretch track to help reduce the risk of muscle soreness or injury.

Tips + Preparation

  • New to class? Arrive a little early so our instructor can give you some pointers.
  • Arrive 5 minutes early so you have time to gather and set-up your equipment
  • Good posture is the foundation of all exercise.
    Focus on getting your technique right.
  • Don't overdo it with the weights – BODYPUMP™ uses
    high repetition to tone and strengthen
  • Start gradually increasing weights after six weeks
  • Protect your joints. Always keep them slightly bent –
    not locked – and perform movements smoothly

  • Bench and Risers
  • The Y provides all equipment for this class

Attire and What to Bring

  • Come to class dressed and ready to move your body
  • Comfortable, functional clothing made of breathable material to allow air flow
  • Proper gym shoes that fit comfortably. We recommend
    cross-trainers or running shoes.
  • Water bottle
  • Sweat towel (available at the welcome desk)
