West Washington Branch - Various Ages

Water lovers of all ages can take skills to the next level with specialty classes like water fitness classes, diving, competitive swimming, triathlon training and more.

Games and Splash Class ages 3-5

This class is divided into 45 minutes of games in the gym and 40 minutes of swim fun in the zero depth area of the Family Adventure Pool. 

Fantastic Fridays ages 3-5

Kids will begin with games, head to the classroom for art projects and a healthy snack provided by the Y. Then, after your little one is refueled, they will head to the zero depth area of the Family Adventure Pool for free play and games.

3X The Fun ages 4-5

This class is the perfect combination of art, sports and swim. Students create a clever project, play cooperatively with classmates in the gym and participate in a swim lesson. Come dressed to play with swim suit on. Pack a snack and water bottle in a backpack with a towel. Parents will pick their child up in the pool after class. Children must be potty trained.

Aquatic Conditioning ages 6-14

Aquatic Conditioning is one offering from the competitive pathway students can pursue following YMCA Swim Lessons. The program focuses on continuing to build endurance and stroke technique on all major competitive strokes and encourages swimming as a part of a healthy lifestyle.

Prerequisite: Completed Swim Stage 6 prior to registering for this class. 

Barracudas Swim Team Prep ages 6+

Are you looking to join a swim team or take the next step in your swimming progression, but are not quite ready to be on a competitive swim team? Take our Barracudas Swim Team Prep course! This class meets two days per week for 45 minutes and prepares you for what swim teams are like. Students will build their skill in the four competitive strokes; freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. They will focus on building endurance and speed while fixing stroke technique to become a more efficient competitive swimmer.

BEFORE registering, participants must be able to swim a pool length of the following: front stroke, backstroke and breaststroke.

Prerequisite: Completed Swim Stage 6

Diving ages 7+

Participants will learn some basic diving skills and work toward more advanced dives and skills off of our diving board. Class offers basic skills of diving including jumps, hurdles and basic dives. 

Prerequisite: Completed Swim Stage 3

Home School Gym & Swim ages 6-17

Open to all home school families and includes time in the gym and pools. Preregistration is not necessary, but participants need to register and pay each time they attend.

Home School Swim Lessons ages 6-17

Swim Lessons will be available during the swim portion of the Home School Gym & Swim program. Lessons will last 30 minutes. During the additional 30 minutes of swim time, students may participate in open swim. Participants must sign up by session and there must be a minimum of 5 participants in order for the class to run. 

Splash Class ages 3-5

This class is divided into 45 minutes of gym and art activities, each week we will rotate. Then 40 minutes of swim fun in the zero depth are of the Family Adventure Pool.

Swim Fit ages 14 and up

Whether you are a novice swimmer or a master swimmer, training for a triathlon or just needed a more structured swim work out, join us for swim training and technique enhancement. Swimmers must be able to swim one lap before enrolling in this class.

Kayaking ages 16 and up

In partnership with Silent Wake, this class is designed as a program emphasizing safety, enjoyment and skill acquisition for entry level individuals in the public, private and commercial setting. This course is appropriate for people interested in paddling all kayak crafts, including traditional decked kayaks (whitewater, sea kayak, recreational, and techniques that are most appropriate for certain types of kayaks or paddling conditions in response to unique interests or preferences of the participating students.
