Job Duties:

Reporting to the Center Executive, the Director of Donor Development is responsible for planning, implementing, articulating and evaluating a comprehensive fundraising strategy which includes annual campaign, special events, endowment and capital campaigns. The primary driving force for fundraising is to support the Y Annual Campaign scholarship fund.

  • Directs and coordinates branch capital development, annual campaign and endowment programs.
  • Serves as primary staff to the Financial Development Committee.
  • Develops strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of financial development.
  • Develops processes and is actively involved in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects.
  • Prepares and coordinates proposals for grants from government sources and private foundations.
  • Develops systems and manages resources needed to carry out the fundraising plans.
  • Establishes and monitors the financial development department budget.
  • Assists with developing appropriate fundraising policies and procedures for the association.
  • Tracks all gifts and pledges by source and purpose and provides reports as needed.
  • Provides training in fund raising. Educates, motivates and provides feedback to individuals related to best practices in the fundraising process.
  • Develops communication plans to insure members, participants, and the community understand the case for support. May plan and direct the marketing and communication plan; may plan and oversee the association annual meeting, annual reports, newsletters, brochures and reports.

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in development
  • Strong communication, networking and collaboration skills
  • Excellent team builder and team player, ability to work self-directed
  • Ability to manage teams of staff and volunteers
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills, capable of working effectively with board members, staff members, volunteers, and donors/prospects
  • Ability to represent the YMCA in a mature and professional manner building strong relations with leaders in a wide variety of organizations in the community
  • He/she must have a successful record of achievement in fundraising, along with a proven ability to cultivate relationships within the YMCA and within the community. The incumbent will work with the Feith Family Y Council of Trustees, Financial Development Committee, staff members and other volunteer groups to achieve maximum income from annual giving. Strong interpersonal skills are a must for this position.
  • The incumbent must know how to plan, recruit and train volunteers to raise funds. He/She will develop and implement a comprehensive annual campaign training program for staff and volunteers. The incumbent will be responsible for all campaign related materials ensuring that current and potential donors understand the YMCA and how they contribute to the achievement of its mission.
  • He/She will be directly responsible for the Council and Staff divisions of the annual campaign and will plan and execute the campaign kick-off and victory celebrations.
