Leader's Club Leader's Club is an awesome way to make new friends and give back to the community at the same time. If you like helping others and having fun, Leaders Club is for you! There is truly no limit to how teens can help others. Whether it’s helping out at the YMCA, or collecting shoes for Haiti, Leaders Club members make a difference! The teens themselves operate Leaders Club and dictate what activities they choose to take on. Meetings will be run by the teens with an adult presence. Sponsored by West Bend Clinic, a Member of Synergy Health. |

S.T.A.N.D. S.T.A.N.D. (Students Take Action Not Drugs) is a group of high school students comprised of teens from West Bend and Kewaskum. The main objective of this group is to provide alcohol, drug and tobacco free activities for Washington County teens and have a lot of fun in the process. Every year STAND teens organize and operate the very popular Youth Battle of the Bands. Last year 15 bands auditioned for 10 spots and over 2,000 people attended. Other activities organized by the group are 5th Quarter DJ/pizza parties after football and basketball games, yearbook signing DJ parties and YMCA lock-ins. We also take several trips as a group. In the past we have gone to the Wisconsin Dells, whitewater rafting, Bucks, Admirals, and /or Brewers games and trips to Chicago to name a few. We always have fun no matter what activity we are involved in. If you want to provide worthwhile activities for area teens and have fun in the process-join STAND! Contact Linda Dymond with questions (262) 335-6898. |

Youth in Government (YIG) YIG is a nationwide YMCA program open to students in grades 7-12. YIG encourages life-long responsible citizenship by offering the opportunity for students to become active participants in state government. Each fall, students learn the basics of parliamentary procedure while debating hot topics in state government. YIG participants then prepare for a Pre-Government session in Stevens Point and for Model Government in Madison. Students can participate in a variety of ways, including: the Assembly and Senate, Supreme Court, Press Corps, and as elected youth officers. At Model Government in February, teens from throughout Wisconsin descend on the State Capitol to present bills, try cases, and create lasting friendships. Elected officers also have the opportunity to attend national YIG conferences in North Carolina and in Washington D.C. Sponsored by Dr. Marjorie Vukelich, Aurora Medical Group Fee: $100 for YMCA Members and Community Participants ~ scholarships are available. |
