Job Duties
Educational Programming supports the vision and mission of the Family Center by using strength-based practices to educate and support parents and other caregivers of young children. Program Coordinators are responsible for all aspects of the programs that they are assigned to: program development, promotion, facilitation, assessment, record keeping, data collection and reporting.
Requirements
- A degree in human services, early childhood development, education or related field. Knowledge of strength-based family support practices and ability to use these practices when working with families and co-workers.
- Working knowledge of child development, community resources and systems, skilled in group facilitation and comfortable with public speaking, strong communication skills, both oral and written, ability to maintain confidentiality, be non-judgmental and empathetic toward all types of families, ability to develop and plan programs to strengthen and support families.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft word and Excel, internet and email. Ability to drive an automobile, proof of adequate insurance and obtain a valid driver’s license. Physical requirements of the position include: ability to lift objects up to 40.bs, to operate a computer for extended periods of time (2-3 hours), sit for 6-8 hours.

Job Duties
Working with elementary school aged youth, in the YMCA’s after school child care.Assisting the child care supervisor in implementing the Youth Fit For Life program, a curriculum based nutrition and exercise program.
Assist in teaching additional youth wellness classes that could include youth strength training, homeschool gym and swim classes, Teen Leaders Club, Special Fit Teen (an adaptive exercise program for individuals with cognitive disabilities or developmental delay) and supervision of Virtual Vault Gaming room (Wii Sports, Dance Dance Revolution, Makoto)
Assist in recruiting volunteers to support the YMCA's efforts to build healthy communities i.e., YMCA Healthy Kids Day, Mini triathalon, Community Corporate Challenge, etc.
Attend Prevention Network of Washington County meetings and participate in the Network’s activities.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old by September 2012
- Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED/HSED
- Must be willing to serve for up to 12 months and complete the full term of service
- Must be able to pass criminal, FBI and DMV background check
